Not many people would mess with someone like Dave Bautista. He has a lot of size above many normal people, but you also never know what can happen at Fudruckers.
Batista, star of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Killing Game, recently shared an unexpected and intense encounter during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. While the conversation covered many topics, the story that grabbed everyone’s attention was an altercation Bautista had in a Fuddruckers restaurant that escalated quickly.
Bautista explained that the incident began while he was out with his girlfriend. “I was in a Fuddruckers, just minding my own business with my girlfriend,” he recounted. “This guy started talking about her, so I turned around and said, ‘Dude, what’s your problem?'”
The story went a bit off the rails after that, but it could have been much worse, all things considered.
“I was in a Fuddruckers, just minding my own business with my girlfriend. He started talking about her, so I turned around and said, ‘Dude, what’s your problem?’ He jumped up in my face and said, ‘I don’t care if you’re big; I’ll hit you three times before you can hit me once.’ He was so close and aggressive that I pushed him. He started acting like he was losing his mind, running around saying, ‘Oh no, no!’
“Then, out of nowhere, he picked up a wet floor sign. I couldn’t believe it—I was thinking, ‘No way this guy is actually going to hit me with that.’ But then, crack—he hit me right in the head with the wet floor sign. After that, he tackled me into the salad bar. The whole thing shattered.”
“So, yeah, to answer your question, people do pick fights with me, and I don’t want to fight—I’d rather hug it out or have a conversation. It was crazy.”
Jimmy Kimmel commented to say, “That’s wild! He’s lucky you didn’t seriously hurt him afterward.” To that’s Bautista admitted that he did choke the guy a tad during the confrontation.
“Well, I did choke him a little bit. When the police came, they charged me because they said I started the fight by pushing him. They ended up dropping the charges, though. But yeah, I choked him a bit, and the whole thing was just trouble at Fuddruckers. Stuff like that doesn’t happen to movie stars. I bet you didn’t tell the Funky Bunch about that.”
Although Bautista wrapped up his full-time WWE career in 2010, he made part-time returns in 2014 and 2019. He has recently admitted that he’d still be in WWE if it weren’t for Hollywood.
Bautista’s final WWE match took place at WrestleMania 35, where he lost to Triple H. In the same interview, he also had high praise for fellow wrestler CM Punk. WWE had planned to induct Bautista into their Hall of Fame in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic derailed those plans. His induction has yet to be rescheduled, but many believe it’s only a matter of time before Batista makes his return for that honor.
