‘Batman: Caped Crusader’: Minnie Driver Will Voice Gender-Swapped Penguin In Prime Video Animated Series

Minnie Driver is joining the DC animated universe in an unexpected role.

On Saturday, the Academy Award nominee was announced as the voice of Oswalda Cobbelpot, a gender-swapped version of The Penguin, during Batman: Caped Crusader‘s panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

The first episode of the series was screened during the panel, featuring Driver’s debut as The Penguin.

Driver was in attendance, participating in a talk following the screening with co-stars Hamish Linklater and Jamie Chung, as well as executive producer Matt Reeves. The panel kicked off with a video message from EP Bruce Timm.

J.J. Abrams also produces the 10-episode animated series, which is available to stream Thursday, Aug. 1 on Prime Video.

The voice cast also includes Diedrich Bader, Christina Ricci, Mckenna Grace, Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Krystal Joy Brown, John DiMaggio, Paul Scheer, Reid Scott, Tom Kenny, Jason Watkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Dan Donohue, David Krumholtz, Haley Joel Osment and Toby Stephens.
