The Coalition of Opposition Lawmakers in Nigeria has criticized the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for comments he made regarding Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. According to a report by Leadership, the lawmakers advised Wike to stop “daydreaming,” asserting that Governor Fubara will not defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join him in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike, who reportedly mocked his successor in light of upcoming local elections, suggested he would teach Fubara and his supporters the intricacies of politics. In response, the Coalition’s spokesperson, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, dismissed Wike’s claims, labeling them as “baseless daydreams.”
In Ugochinyere’s words, “Fubara cannot abandon the PDP for Wike. The battle for the soul of the PDP has not even started, and Wike is already panicking like an amateur politician, running from one court to another.” He further added, “Thinking Fubara will join APP and leave PDP for you shows you are an overrated politician.”
Ugochinyere concluded by warning Wike to brace himself for a political showdown, stating, “Watch and see how Fubara will deliver an uppercut in the battle for the soul of PDP.” He emphasized that Wike’s influence over the Rivers PDP is waning, asserting, “You can’t, and I repeat, you can’t control it.”
The Coalition pledged to ensure Wike faces consequences for his actions, accusing him of repeatedly betraying his party for political gains and federal protection.
