The Bauchi State Government has appointed Haruna Dayaya as the new Emir of Ningi.

This was disclosed in a press release issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, following the approval of Governor Bala Mohammed.

The statement stated that Danyaya, the eldest son of the late Emir, was appointed as the 17th Emir of Ningi.

The statement read “This decision is in exercising the powers conferred on him (the governor) by Cap. 24 Item 3 (1 ) of the laws of Bauchi State of Nigeria (Appointment of Emirs / Chiefs and Deposition 1991) and the recommendation of the kingmakers.

“The appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Barrister İbrahim Mohammed Kashim.”

Gidado expressed the confidence of the Bauchi State Government in the new emir’s ability to continue the legacy of his late father in fostering unity, peace, and development in the Ningi emirate and Bauchi state as a whole.

He noted that the state government, under the leadership of Mohammed, remains committed to supporting the traditional institutions in the state, saying that they play a crucial role in maintaining peace and progress in our communities.

The new Emir of Ningi, Danyaya, is the eldest son of the late Emir Yunusa Danyaya and was born in Ningi in 1956.

He is the immediate past Chiroman Ningi.

Recall that the 17th Emir, Yunusa Danyaya, died on August 24th, 2024, after spending 46 years on the throne.

He died at the age of 88 and was buried according to Islamic rites.
