That strike edged him ever closer to Robert Lewandowski’s 41-goal record, but winning a major trophy is by far the biggest prize.

Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen are still on for an invincible Bundesliga season, having needed a 94th-minute penalty equaliser from Exequiel Palacios to snatch a 2-2 draw when these sides met in September.

Didi Hamann has told talkSPORT the level of impact Kane has had on the Bundesliga.

He told talkSPORT: “They’re not playing well but it just goes to show how good he is.

“He probably touches the ball 20, 25 times and he probably scores with every third or fourth touch.

“He’s settled and he’s a breath of fresh air.

"To have the England captain in Germany is a huge thing and he’s so humble and so likeable.

"I think for the club and the league it’s been a blessing to have him.”
