Frenkie de Jong is bracing himself for an uncertain summer ahead, as Barcelona desperately looks to trim the squad in order to balance the books.

De Jong has emerged as one of the Barcelona stars who might leave Camp Nou, as part of the club’s plans to bring in fresh revenue.

The recent uncertainty over de Jong’s future has put multiple top European clubs on high alert, with Bayern Munich emerging as one of the potential candidates.

Bayern appreciates De Jong

That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who suggests that Bayern ‘appreciates’ the talent of de Jong.

The German giants are gearing up for an important summer ahead, especially after surrendering the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen this season.

The midfield unit could be a focus area and that is where de Jong could come into the fray. The Dutchman’s experience, coupled with his technical abilities could make him an ideal addition to the Bayern midfield unit.

It must also be noted that Bayern are running the risk of losing Joshua Kimmich, who, in turn, has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Barcelona considers de Jong important

Fabrizio, though, notes that there is nothing advanced, in regards to Bayern’s interest in de Jong.

In fact, Xavi Hernandez considers de Jong a vital part of his project at Camp Nou. The midfielder’s performances, after all, have warranted him this status.

That is why Fabrizio Romano adds that securing de Jong’s exit could prove to be far more difficult this summer, as far as Barcelona are concerned.

The club’s economic hardship, though, cannot be ignored and the coming weeks, to that end, could prove to be crucial, as both parties look to resolve de Jong’s future at Camp Nou.
