Author of an interesting exercise which confirms all his potential at only 18 years old, Mathys Tel embodies the future of Bayern Munich. Arriving in the summer of 2022 from Rennes, the French striker already has 6 goals and 4 goals in 28 games, having adapted to a new winger position and is slowly making his mark. Asked by Goal in its concept Box 2 Boxthe U21 international made a small indiscretion.

Currently with the number 39, he could have worn the 9 which was vacant following the departure of Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona. “Yes I could have taken number 9 but I set myself a certain number of challenges to take on during this season. I didn’t want to get it directly because it’s a fairly symbolic number within the club. So I preferred to keep my number 39 to give myself challenges and be able to get this number nine back while being satisfied with my work” he explained.
