It appears increasingly probable that Bayern Munich will part ways with Thomas Tuchel this summer, while Xabi Alonso is being considered as a potential replacement, per talkSPORT.
Tuchel has faced challenges this season, with Bayern already out of the DFB Pokal, trailing behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, and struggling in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich find themselves trailing Bayer Leverkusen by five points in the league after suffering a devastating 3-0 loss to Alonso’s team over the weekend. Consequently, the club are exploring potential replacements for Tuchel this summer, especially after their 1-0 defeat to Lazio in the first leg of the last-16 tie on Wednesday.
Nevertheless, the dismissal might occur earlier should they exit European competitions and continue to lag behind in the race for the German title.
Alonso is the favoured choice at Bayern, given his past stint with the club from 2014 to 2017. If Bayern opts to part with Tuchel, they will be eager to secure Alonso before Liverpool does, potentially granting the former Spain midfielder the opportunity to choose between two of Europe’s premier clubs.
This news will serve as a big blow for Liverpool given their interest in Xabi Alonso, but nothing is certain just yet which means the Reds are still in play for the Spaniard.
