It is no secret that Bayern Munich hold a strong interest in signing Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo. The Bavarian giants tested the possibility of roping in the Uruguayan international in January, but it was not possible.

However, with the summer transfer window four months away, the Bundesliga champions are confident that they can convince Araujo to make the switch from Catalonia and have a strategy in place for his signing, reports SPORT.

Bayern would offer around €100 million for Araujo, double his salary

As per the report, Bayern Munich are absolutely convinced that Araujo is the right match for them and believe that they can tempt him to don the red jersey next season.

The Bavarian giants have been working on the signing for some time and they hope that Barça will open the door to negotiations because of their desperate need for income.

The report claims that his signing is absolutely strategic for Thomas Tuchel’s project and in order to compelte his capture, Die Roten would be willing to offer around €100 million.

The German champions looked at other options but concluded that they would only be able to raise the level with an undisputed signing like Araujo. They believe that it is better to invest heavily in the player than to bet a little less money on other options that are less convincing.

As such, Bayern have gotten in touch with Araujo and his entourage and have two prongs to their approach to convince him to leave Barcelona.

Firstly, Bayern will present Araujo with a solid project built to win the Champions League and be dominant for many years at the highest level.

On top of that, they also plan on making things worth his while economically by offering him a salary that would more than double the possible renewal offer that Barça could present to him in the coming weeks.

Araujo’s stance

Araujo, for his part, has always been clear and absolutely prioritises continuing at Barcelona. The Uruguayan is aware of the immense interest of Bayern and the greatness of the operation but still wants to stay at Barça.

However, at the same time, the third club captain is also clear that he renewed by making an important economic effort and that now he is the centre-back who is paid the least in the squad by far – something that is neither fair nor logical due to his importance in the team.

Araujo is happy at Barcelona, but the time has also come for him to feel valued and a proposal from Barça at a lower price could be interpreted as a message of an opening of doors in the next summer market.

Barcelona do not want to sell Araujo, as has been made clear by Deco already. And they are working on a new contract for their captain. But if the defender feels undervalued, Bayern are ready to pounce.
