Alphonso Davies has surprisingly become a hot topic in Barcelona lately, following Gerard Romero’s bombshell update.
The Spanish journalist, earlier today, claimed that Davies’ agent was in Madrid this past week. He then met Barcelona sporting director Deco to discuss a potential move to Camp Nou.
This happened under the nose of Real Madrid, who have been trying to incorporate the services of the Canadian international for a while now.
Davies’ agent demands €12 million salary
Gerard Romero has offered a fresh update on Alphonso Davies’ transfer saga, suggesting that the player’s agent had, in fact, stayed in Barcelona this past week.
As per Romero, Davies’ agent, Nedal Huoseh, stayed in Barcelona on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. He met Deco on Thursday at noon, to discuss the future of his client.
During the discussion, Huoseh brought up Davies’ salary demands, which were around €12 million per season net, along with bonuses.

What should be Barcelona’s play?
It is unlikely Barça will even entertain the demands from Alphonso Davies’ agent, regardless of the quality of the player.
In light of the club’s recent economic woes, they had set a proper wage structure which has to be followed if Barcelona are to avoid such a mess.
In that new wage structure, the club are not in a position to afford such a hefty salary to any individual unless he is truly an impact player – such as Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.
Davies’ potential move to Barcelona, therefore, is highly unlikely this summer, unless the Catalans make wholesale changes to the squad and get rid of several star players.
