Despite being snubbed in the January transfer window, Bayern Munich refuse to give up on their pursuit of Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo.
The 25-year-old Uruguayan centre-back is one of the priority transfer targets for the Bundesliga champions heading into the summer, reports BILD (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
As such, they are hatching a plan to get their hands on their top target before the start of the next season.
Bayern Munich ready to sell to fund Araujo move
As was reported earlier this week, Barcelona would listen to offers of around €100 million for Araujo in the summer, due to their woeful financial situation.
Aware of the situation, Bayern Munich need to raise funds to be able to fund the move, for they are also looking to sign a few more players apart from Araujo.
As such, the Bavarian giants are planning to offload several of their first-team players in a bid to overhaul the squad while generating major revenue.
The report states that players like Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sane, Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry, Noussair Mazraoui, and Joshua Kimmich could all be sold to raise the funds needed.
Apart from Araujo, Bayern also want Martin Zubimendi (a Barcelona target) and Jeremie Frimpong and are prepared to take serious measures to fund moves for them.
What’s Barcelona’s stance?
As far as Barcelona and Araujo are concerned, conflicting reports have been doing the rounds. Not long ago, club president Joan Laporta claimed publicly that he would renew the defender ‘for life’.
However, earlier this week, it was suggested that an offer of around €100 million could be accepted for him.
The player, for his part, admits he is happy at Barça but insists his future is in the hands of the club.
