Joshua Kimmich is no longer the immovable leader of Bayern Munich. At 29, the German international midfielder (91 caps, 6 goals) finds himself in a contractual situation that has led to some reflection. Free of any contract in a year, Kimmich could be sold by his management. The arrival of the Portuguese João Palhinha this summer is also a strong signal sent to the former Stuttgart resident. Recently questioned on this case, during his presentation press conference, Vincent Kompany quickly kicked it into touch.

“Selling players is not my job. I am here for the team. Every player in the team has a lot of talent. These are players (Kimmich, Goretzka, Gnabry) who have been successful in the past. Now that it is about the future, I do not want to talk about each player individually. That is not my intention. I understand the question (about Kimmich), I really do. But we could name all the names. Harry Kane, Musiala, what I think of Goretzka. We could go on like this all evening. But that is not my intention. I have played at this level and I know that no one has ever told me that I would be an undisputed starter, even if I was captain. These players are used to meeting the highest demands. We need everyone. If you want to talk about names, we are completely off the mark. That is a subject for the media.”.

Kimmich not keen on going to Paris

As you will have noticed, the time when Bayern made Kimmich an essential and untransferable element is very far away. A godsend for his courtiers. Moreover, Image confirms that Paris Saint-Germain is indeed interested. The capital club is certainly finalizing the arrival of João Neves (19 years old, Benfica), but it would also like to bring in the German to install him in the role of leader of the midfield. Except that the main interested party does not really have the same plans.

Image adds that Kimmich is reluctant to move to Paris with his wife and their four children. Would the midfielder prefer to bounce back in a more exclusive championship than Ligue 1 in the event of a departure? As a reminder, FC Barcelona had come forward, but the Blaugranas do not have the necessary liquidity for such an operation. On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has the profile of the ideal suitor. To be continued.
