It was only yesterday that we reported how Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has started to gain prominence within the Barcelona management. The former Chelsea coach, who was once deemed impossible, is currently within reach as Barcelona continue to look for life beyond Xavi.

Following up to that, journalist Fernando Polo has reported via Mundo Deportivo that the German coach has now offered himself to Barcelona amidst the troubles he is facing at Bayern Munich.

Tuchel is facing significant challenges at Bayern Munich, having recently suffered a 3-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen. In the Bundesliga, his team is trailing by five points behind Xabi Alonso’s undefeated squad.

Furthermore, the Bavarians are already out of the German Cup and their chances of winning the UEFA Champions League look extremely slim.

Tuchel wants to take advantage

In this scenario, Tuchel has been made aware of Barcelona’s search for a coach for the upcoming season following Xavi’s departure at the end of the season.

Additionally, the aforementioned outlet mentions that Tuchel knows Joan Laporta is an admirer of the German coaching philosophy, having previously considered him favourable in 2021 when seeking a replacement for Ronald Koeman.

At that time, Tuchel’s success with Chelsea in the Champions League made him an unattainable target.

However, the current circumstances have changed. With uncertainty about his future at Bayern, Tuchel’s representatives have approached Barcelona, recognizing that he might have a chance due to his impressive track record with prominent clubs and his noteworthy achievement in winning the Champions League with Chelsea against Manchester City.

This accomplishment serves as a strong credential, although its value could diminish if Bayern’s dominance in the Bundesliga is disrupted.

Is Tuchel laying the groundwork?

A few days ago, there were already speculations connecting Tuchel to Barcelona, shortly after Xavi revealed his departure plans on June 30. This link emerged from Tuchel’s earlier remarks expressing his desire to work in the Spanish League someday.

While several media outlets associated him with Barcelona following Xavi’s announcement, Bayern rejected this by issuing a statement denying discussions about Xavi and his successor, refuting the false claims.

Nevertheless, Tuchel appears to be making preparations in case he ultimately departs from Bayern and this is why his representatives have contacted Barcelona.
