Bayern Munich outcast wants Spain return amid Barcelona transfer links

FC Barcelona’s intention to strengthen their left-wing options is widely known by now. Owing to their shortcomings last season, the Catalans have shortlisted an array of offensive talents.

Leading their list of priorities is Nico Williams. The speedster is seen as a perfect complement for Barcelona’s front line and his dominant UEFA Euro 2024 campaign only served to increase his appeal.

However, Barcelona are facing incessant roadblocks in the winger’s pursuit. Williams’ silence over his next destination has created uncertainty, leading the club to explore other options.

Bayern Munich’s Bryan Zaragoza has emerged as a viable alternative, with the Catalan giants eyeing him as a possible safety net in case they fail to convince Nico Williams.

Player eager to return to Spain

Zaragoza transferred from Granada to Bayern Munich in January after the German club triggered his release clause, but he has struggled to adapt. Last season, he made just seven appearances and one start in the Bundesliga.

As such, the player is eager to revive his career, with reports from Kerry Hau of Sky Sports Germany claiming that Bryan Zaragoza wants to return to Spain.

The report goes on to add that a love move within the Bundesliga is not an option for him at all, increasing the chances of the 22-year-old moving back to Spain.

In particular, a move to Valencia is being targeted, while Girona are also interested. But given Barcelona’s interest in the player, this development bodes well for them.

Despite his challenges at Bayern, Zaragoza earned acclaim at Granada, and Barcelona saw his potential firsthand last season when he scored a spectacular brace against them.

Bayern Munich director Max Eberl previously revealed that the Spanish winger will not have a place in the team next season, which enables Barcelona to grab him on a discounted figure.

Time will tell if the move comes to fruition, but for now, the Catalan giants are clinging to the possibility of signing long-standing target Nico Williams.
