In search of a right back after the departure of Benjamin Pavard this summer, Bayern Munich, through the voice of Thomas Tuchel, repeated its desire to see a solid defensive back arrive in January. If the eyes of its management were first focused on Nordi Mukiele, already in Germany (Leipzig between 2018 and 2022) and condemned to a supporting role at PSG, it was ultimately on another Frenchman that Bayern decided to turn: Sacha Boey, who made his debut against M’Gladbach this Saturday (3-1).

To achieve their goals, Bayern Munich took out the checkbook and paid nearly 30 million euros to Galatasaray, which made the 23-year-old ex-Rennais the most expensive recruit in the winter transfer window. Author of two and a half quality seasons with the Istanbul club, where he established himself as a full-fledged starter (83 matches, 4 goals, 4 assists), Sacha Boey therefore signed a contract with Bayern Munich until to June 30, 2028 in the last days of the transfer window.

Sacha Boey dreams of Euro 2024

At the microphone of Téléfootthe young right-back spoke for the first time about his arrival in Munich. “It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, a title-winning machine. There are French players who make a strong impression here. I was made to feel very welcome, told not to have any pressure and to do what I knew how to do. I know that I will be expected, I will not have time to adapt and I am ready to prove myself directly. I am a very aggressive player, who knows how to defend and attack, I always give 200% on the pitch”he first explained.

Sacha Boey also assures that his time in Türkiye was educational. “It was very mentally complicated, there was pressure and we had to quickly show what we were capable of. But it helped me a lot, we can play everywhere after going through Turkey”. But the young 23-year-old full-back dreams of one thing: winning with the Bavarian club to have a place at Euro 2024. “I hope to be there, the Blues make me dream. Playing a competition with my country would be huge. When you’re at Bayern Munich, everyone looks at you and it’s up to me to perform well. I will do everything to get there”. Didier Deschamps will have heard it.
