Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be staying at Bayern Munich this month.
The Cameroonian striker has been linked with a mid-season switch to Manchester United, but it doesn’t sound like Bayern Munich are willing to let the veteran striker leave on loan.
According to Sky Germany, Bayern want Choupo-Moting to stay due to there already being a thin squad. The report adds that should a big offer come in for the veteran, then they could be tempted to sell.
Choupo-Moting, 34, will be out of contract in the summer. That means there is little incentive for the Bundesliga champions to lose of their first-team players six months before he can leave for free.
Bayern will likely demand a transfer fee as the only route out of Bavaria for the former Stoke City forward. Choupo-Moting only managed to score five goals in 30 Premier League appearances for the Potters.
The German giants currently have two strikers ahead of Choupo-Moting in Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order. Harry Kane leads the line with Mathys Tel as his back-up.
Choupo-Moting has made 16 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring two goals.
