Shock evening at the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich hosts Paris Saint-Germain for the fifth day of the Champions League and both teams need points. Dominant in their respective championships, both Bavarians and Parisians have shown difficulties in this European campaign with already two defeats each on the clock. If the Germans won their two other matches, the Ile-de-France residents recorded a success and a draw. Bayern is therefore 19th with six points while PSG is 25th, and therefore virtually eliminated, with four points and both teams need to win this evening to move up the standings.
In the 38th minute, on a corner taken by Joshua Kimmich, Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, starting in place of Gianluigi Donnarumma, was hampered at the near post and completely missed his intervention with his fists. Korean defender Kim Min-Jae was lurking behind and was therefore able to head the ball into the empty goal. But at the start of the second half, PSG had to deal with more bad news. Already warned in the first period for a too virulent protest, Ousmane Dembélé received a second yellow synonymous with expulsion, after a strong tackle in front of Alphonso Davies more than 60 meters from the Parisian cages. A totally stupid mistake.
