Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, has shown optimism about the future of Alphonso Davies, despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding the player’s contract situation.

Davies, who has been a key player for Bayern, is set to see his contract expire at the end of the current season. Although Bayern have made several attempts to renew his deal, the Canadian defender has yet to respond to their offers.

Reports suggest that Bayern recently made a more attractive offer to Davies, with the club issuing a clear ultimatum

They stated that if he does not agree to a new contract soon, he will have to start considering other opportunities. Despite this pressure, Davies has not committed to the club, and the situation remains unresolved.

Freund is still optimistic

Freund, however, remains hopeful. He expressed confidence in the possibility of a new deal, highlighting that Davies enjoys playing in Bayern’s system and that his style of play is a perfect fit for the team.

“New deal for Davies? The confidence is there,” he said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Freund also mentioned that he is optimistic about the relationship between the club and Davies, hoping for a long-term continuation of the left-back’s time at Bayern.

“I’m positive about how much fun Phonzy is having at the moment. The style of play suits him. We hope that things will continue this way for a long time to come,” he added.

No response from Davies

Bayern Munich have reportedly pushed negotiations as far as they can, aiming to have the situation resolved before the end of the year. However, with Davies yet to make a decision, there are growing concerns that the talks could collapse.

This leaves the door open for the player to explore options elsewhere. To complicate matters further, Bayern’s relationship with Davies’ agent has become strained, so most of the discussions are now being conducted directly between the club and the player.

While Davies has not yet agreed to terms with any other club, it is clear that Barcelona have shown significant interest in the full-back.

Barcelona’s sporting management reached out to Davies’ representatives to gauge his conditions, and it appears that a transfer to the Spanish club could be a possibility.

With Bayern’s position uncertain and Barcelona eager to strengthen their squad, the situation could evolve rapidly in the coming months.
