It is now Nottingham Forest who are up next for Newcastle United.
United looking to bounce back from Man City…
Chris Sutton talking to BBC Sport – 20 February 2025:
“As the BBC’s predictions expert I always try to go with my head and not my heart.
“That’s what I am doing with this game, which is big for both teams in the battle for the top four.
“I’d love to say my boyhood club, Nottingham Forest, will respond to their defeat at Fulham, but this game is actually quite simple for me to predict because I am expecting Newcastle to bounce back from their woeful performance and result against Manchester City last weekend.
“I just think there will be a big reaction from Alexander Isak, who was kept really quiet by City, and a real response from their whole team.
“Prediction: Newcastle 2 Nottingham Forest 0”
Well I hope the BBC Sport ‘predictions expert’ is on the money here.
If he is right with not letting his heart rule his head, a Newcastle win would take them to within three points of Forest and third place in the table.
A massive match and could well be a major factor in where NUFC end up.
With two wins against Forest already this season, both away from home, no reason why United can’t make it three.
Especially if they play like they did when outclassing Forest in the league at the City Ground, winning 3-1 and it could and should have been more.
As the BBC Sport man says though, Newcastle need to bounce back from how they played last weekend at Man City.
