A historic player for Manchester United, where he played from 1992 to 2003, David Beckham is now ahead of Bruno Fernandes in the number of goals scored.
It’s symbolic enough to point it out. Bruno Fernandes scored his 86th goal with Manchester United on Sunday in the 32nd final of the FA Cup won against Arsenal on penalties (1-1, 3 tab to 5), at the Emirates Stadium. Arriving in January 2020, the Portuguese playmaker is now ahead of David Beckham, an emblematic player of the residents of Old Trafford.
Like Bruno Fernandes, the “Becks” was a midfielder and not an attacker, but the player trained at United, obviously endowed with a legendary right foot, multiplied the seasons with more than 10 goals in all competitions, with a point at 16 achievements in 2001-2002. A year later, the British superstar moved to Real Madrid with a record of 85 goals in 394 matches with his Manchester club (for six English league titles and a Champions League under his belt).
Beckham overtaken by Martial
David Beckham is no longer among the 20 top scorers in Manchester United history. Anthony Martial overtook the “Spice Boy” two years ago, leaving the club with 89 goals on the clock. Bruno Fernandes should easily catch up with the French international striker in order to enter the top 20.
Wayne Rooney is the top scorer in Manchester United’s history with 253 goals, ahead of Ballon d’Or winners Bobby Charlton and Denis Law, who also scored more than 200 goals (245 and 237). We find two friends of Beckham in the top 10: Ryan Giggs (168 goals) and Paul Scholes (153 goals). Cristiano Ronaldo is the 12th top scorer for the Red Devils with 145 goals scored in two spells.
