Becky Lynch discusses the dream match that has yet to become a reality.

For years, fans buzzed about a potential match between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey. They clashed in a Triple Threat at WrestleMania 35, and while a singles bout was teased, WWE never pulled it off before Rousey left the company following SummerSlam 2023.

In an interview with Alex McCarthy for Mail Sport, Becky Lynch commented on never facing Rousey in a singles match. She noted that people thought it would be evergreen, and it was not.

“I suppose at the end of the day, I was still able to get the win the main event of WrestleMania, be the first ever woman to win the main event of WrestleMania. Do I think that was the match that everyone was clamoring for? Yes it was. Everyone wanted that singles match. And I think, people thought that moment in time would be evergreen and it wasn’t. That’s OK too. I think you can’t force things when they’re not there.”

Becky Lynch Uses The Rock And Roman Reigns As A Comparison

Becky Lynch then used the dream match between The Rock and Roman Reigns as an example. She noted that fans have wanted to see it for years, but the timing is not right at the moment. Lynch stated that the opportunity for her match could come up if Rousey ever returns.

“I think we see that with what’s currently going on with the product,” Becky Lynch said. “For years, everyone wanted The Rock vs Roman Reigns, but it’s not the time for it right now. Everyone wants Roman vs Cody (Rhodes). Some things have their seasons and we didn’t have that season. If she ever comes back again, maybe that season will be right there. Maybe it will be spring time on that story again, but it never got back to that.”

Rousey wrestled twice following her WWE departure, and there is no word on what her future in the business holds.
