Friday Night SmackDown rolled through Tulsa, Oklahoma’s BOK Center for another week of action. SummerSlam is now in the books and Queen Nia Jax is the new WWE Women’s Champion after defeating Bayley. The next premium live event will be the first-ever Bash in Berlin show, which takes place Saturday, August 31st, from the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany.
B-Fab is first in line on the show this week as her and The Street Profits are interviewed by Byron Saxton right before their match against A-Town Down Under. Saxton inquires about how the trio is eager to get back at The Bloodline with Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga being the new WWE Tag Team Champions. The fab female cuts him off and lets him know that the Profits are more than just eager; they are motivated, determined, and on point. After some words from Angelo and Montez regarding the return of Roman Reigns and his impending revenge on the group he once lead, the trio make their way out to the ring, and The Street Profits end up winning the match.
The new WWE Women’s Champion Queen Nia Jax was featured in a vignette that recapped her SummerSlam match with Bayley. The segment was then followed by Tiffany Stratton making plans for Jax’s championship celebration next week. Pretty Deadly interrupts and once again tries to pitch their musical. An annoyed Stratton walks away, but finds herself confronted by Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, with Green suggesting that she should take over the planning aspect if the celebration is anything like Stratton’s “abysmal outfit”. Stratton’s insult of “having a ladder to fall off of” only creates more discourse, and the duo of Niven and Green come to the conclusion that the celebration is a ploy for the Buff Barbie to cash in on her friend’s championship. In response, Stratton says that Green is so right, at being arrogant, oblivious, and delusional. It’s interesting how both Chelsea and Tiffany are heels but have this petty, antagonistic dynamic to these recent interactions they’ve had.
Jade Cargill was up next to face one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alba Fyre. Fyre starts with a kick and a waistlock that gets reversed by Cargill, but the champ makes sure to keep her off her game and employs an octopus hold (famously used by AJ Lee as the Black Widow) that seems to hold Cargill down. Trying to reach the hand of her tag team partner Isla Dawn outside the ring, Bianca Belair made sure to counter her presence, which allowed Cargill to regain control and hit Jaded for the victory.
Just like last week, The Unholy Union and Blair Davenport attack the duo, but this time, Naomi made the save to finally even out the odds.
