Bellingham, the disaster

Jude Bellingham will miss a month of competition with Real Madrid, including the start of the Champions League.

So we will have seen the magic square (Bellingham-Vinicius-Rodrygo-Mbappé) of Real Madrid only… two games. The merengue club has just announced the injury of Jude Bellingham, one of its leaders since last season, with a victorious campaign until the coronation in the final of the Champions League. The English midfielder, author of 23 goals in 42 matches for his first season in Spain, suffers from a muscle injury in the right leg.

Starting against Atalanta Bergamo in the European Super Cup final and in Mallorca for the first day of La Liga, the former Borussia Dortmund player will force Carlo Ancelotti to review his formula. It is a hard blow for Real Madrid, who already have to string together victories after their opening draw to best start a season in which the Merengues will try to retain their title of champion of Spain.

He will miss the start of the C1

A quick glance at the calendar shows that Bellingham will miss at least 6 La Liga games (Valladolid, Las Palmas, Betis, Real Sociedad, Espanyol and Alaves), but also probably his team’s first Champions League game. The draw for the first phase of the new C1 format has not yet been made, but matches are scheduled as early as September 17, before Bellingham’s comeback.

Against Mallorca, it was Turkey’s Arda Güler who came on in place of Jude Bellingham in the 88th minute. An opportunity for him to take advantage of the English star’s absence to prove to Carlo Ancelotti that he can still play more?
