Ben Affleck wishes he had his longtime best friend Matt Damon’s life — that’s what a new source is claiming!
Perezcious readers know that Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from the 52-year-old filmmaker last month following months of speculation. And he supposedly was not handling the break up well at one point — so much so that he leaned on Matt for support during an emotional breakdown!

According to Dailymail.com on Tuesday, Ben “broke down in tears” to the Bourne Identity star! Why? A source claimed Ben was not only left “humiliated” by his short-lived relationship with Jennifer but found himself “jealous” of Matt! What?!
The Gone Girl star reportedly yearns for the life his best friend has. Everything from a long, happy marriage — like the 53-year-old film producer has had with Lucian Barroso — to kids who live with him every single day! That’s what Ben wants but has not successfully figured out how to achieve yet. The insider explained:
“Ben is particularly vulnerable and feels humiliated after his failed marriage to JLo. He broke down in tears and told Matt he’s jealous of him and his lifestyle. He told Matt he has everything he wants — a nearly 20-year happy marriage and children who live with him. He admitted he’s chosen the wrong path in life so many times while he’s seen Matt take the right road over and over again.”
At least it sounds like Ben is somewhat self-aware of the mistakes he has made in his life. We will see if he continues to go down the “right” path now that he has admitted it out loud to a friend.
The former Batman is reportedly “putting the brake” on his rumored fling with RFK Jr.’s daughter Kick Kennedy is a good start… The Dailymail.com source added:
“He told Matt if he could hibernate right now he would.”
Oof. No wonder Matt “shut down” any attempt from Jennifer to talk about Ben at the afterparty for the Unstoppable premiere at TIFF last week! Not just because of the awkward timing! But the director is really going through it right now! Matt most likely doesn’t want to add betraying the longtime pal on top of everything else he is dealing with — like Ben and Jen’s tension over finances. He’s got enough on his plate already!
