Ben Affleck jokes that ‘broke’ son Samuel, 13, didn’t want to mow lawns for $6K sneakers

Ben Affleck joked that his “broke” son, Samuel, didn’t want to do chores to pay for a $6,000 pair of Dior Air Jordan 1 sneakers.

The “Gone Girl” star doubled down on the 13-year-old learning the value of hard work after the teen expressed interest in the luxury shoes.

“That’s what happens when you tell a motherf–ker they have to mow a lawn. All of a sudden, they don’t want those shoes,” Affleck quipped during an interview with “Access Hollywood” at SXSW on Saturday.

“I’m like, ‘Man, you do not need $1,000 shoes,'” the Oscar winner, 52, continued. “He’s like, ‘We have the money.’ I’m like, ‘I have the money, you’re broke.'”

Last week, the multimillionaire actor was seen squirming at the price tag of the kicks as he and Samuel spent time at the Got Sole sneaker convention.

The limited-edition Air Jordans were released in 2020 and originally priced at $2,000 before becoming a collector’s item.

“You like those because they’re expensive,” Affleck — who is reportedly worth $150 million — told his son in a video taken at the event.

“No, they’re tough! I’ve always said they look good!” Samuel responded while checking out the gray-and-white sneakers.

The “Argo” star then took a peek at the cost and said, “That’s a lot of lawns you gotta mow there.”

The father-son duo left the convention with several bags of sneakers, though it’s unclear whether they purchased the Dior Air Jordan 1s.

In addition to Samuel, Affleck also shares children Violet, 19, and Seraphina, 16, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

The actor has maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship with the “Alias” alum over the years. Last week, an insider told Page Six that Affleck “would love another chance” with Garner.

Earlier this month, the exes appeared close at a paintball park as Affleck affectionately grabbed the actress around the waist.

However, a source told Page Six that the “Deadpool & Wolverine” actress does not feel the same way about her ex-husband and is “happy” with boyfriend John Miller, who she’s been dating on and off since 2018.

Affleck settled his divorce from Jennifer Lopez in January and is “happier than he’s been in years,” a source told us.
