Author of a full season with Arsenal, Ben White seems to be a legitimate choice to appear in Gareth Southgate’s group with England for the next Euro in Germany. However, the 26-year-old defender declined invitations to recent rallies. Although he was present at the World Cup in Qatar, the Arsenal player decided not to return to the Three Lions following a disparaging remark from Gareth Southgate’s deputy, Steve Holland. This decision aroused incomprehension and criticism, notably from former Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp (2008-2012), who described the choice of Ben White as “disgusting”. His agent wanted to react to these comments.

“No one knows what really happens in life, so I really believe people should think twice before passing judgment or criticizing these elite athletes in public. Ben showed incredible toughness and strength throughout this difficult time off the field, blocked out all the noise and performed incredibly well on the field, in a situation where many others could have and would have withered. I guess the main message is to be kind to people, because you don’t have all the facts, which, in Ben’s case, neither Ben nor I want to express publicly, and we don’t know what is happening in people’s personal lives, so again, be kind” said Alexander Levack, his agent, in a Linkedin post.
