Benrahma at OM, one last detail to settle

Without being closed to a departure of its Algerian international, West Ham has one condition to sell Benrahma.

David Moyes has admitted that Said Benrahma could leave West Ham this month, but only if the club receives a permanent sale offer. The Hammers rejected a loan offer from Marseille earlier this week, the same day Benrahma received the first red card of his career during the FA Cup elimination at Bristol City.

50/50 for Benrahma

Lyon are also interested in the Algerian, whose three-match suspension means he may well have played his last game for the Hammers. “The Marseille team made a loan offer”, Moyes said on Friday, ahead of the weekend’s trip to Sheffield United. “IHe didn’t know about it after the (Bristol City) game. As far as I know, the offer was rejected anyway. We probably have to sell to recruit other players. If so, we are probably more inclined to sell than to lend.”

The West Ham club have already allowed Thilo Kehrer to join the Ligue 1 side on loan this month, although the deal is believed to include an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer. Moyes was asked if any other players were going to be sold before the window closes: “ The truth is, it’s probably 50/50. I don’t have absolute certainty that anyone else is going to leave, but yes, there are noises in the background that maybe other people might leave. We probably wanted to have a little head start before bringing people in. I said our budget wasn’t huge for this window. There’s a lot of reasons why there probably aren’t a lot of signings.”
