Benue Deputy Governor, Sam Ode handing over APC flag to one of the chairmanship candidates in Gboko
The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has promised to provide a level playing ground for all political parties participating in the forthcoming local government election.
No fewer than eight parties are expected to participate in the election slated for October 5, 2024.
Alia who spoke during the flag-off of the All Progressive Congress election campaign held in Gboko on Wednesday pledged a free and fair election.
Represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, the governor urged party supporters to work hard and ensure that the APC candidates won all the positions in the coming polls.
“His Excellency, Hyacinth Alia is determined to ensure that the coming election is free and fair, hence, he has promised to provide a level playing ground for all the political parties,” he said.
Ode, therefore, handed over the party flags to the 23 APC chairmanship candidates and their deputies with a charge to work for their people,
In his welcome address, the APC caretaker committee chairman, Benjamin Omale, said the committee had played a vital role in addressing the concerns of aggrieved aspirants, ensuring that every voice was heard and valued.
Omale said the committee’s efforts have been instrumental in fostering unity and understanding within the party.
He said the state APC administration was committed to delivering their campaign promises.
He urged party supporters to come out en mass on October 5 and vote for all candidates of the APC for better service delivery and for the general good of the people.
He further commended President Bola Tinubu, the National Chairman of APC and the working committee for their support in bringing peace to Benue APC and forming the unity caretaker committee.
