While rumors of Karim Benzema’s departure have gained momentum in recent days, the French striker should not, unless there is a surprise, leave Saudi Arabia this winter.

Karim Benzema has (finally) made his return. Expected on January 2 for the resumption of training with his club Al-Ittihad, after the winter break, the Ballon d’Or only showed up this Thursday, 17 days late. The “Nueve” justified this setback by the fact that it remained stuck on Mauritius due to the passage of Cyclone Belal. Explanations which did not reach his leaders, who were “furious” and who decided to summon him to discuss his future together.

Despite the tensions with its French star, the management of Al-Ittihad would not intend to part ways with it this winter. “Benzema is the captain of the club and remains committed”, we assure within the Saudi club. A trend confirmed by the transfer window specialist, Fabrizio Romano.

“Al-Ittihad does not intend to give the green light”

“From what I hear from the club side, Al-Ittihad does not intend to give the green light for Benzema to leave in January”, assured the Italian journalist for CaughtOffside. In recent days, the name of the French striker has notably circulated among Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG and even Olympique Lyonnais. But clearly he’s not going anywhere this winter. As a reminder, “KB9” is linked to the Saudi Arabian champions until June 2026.

While the rest of his teammates are currently training in Dubai, where Al-Ittihad is due to play two friendly matches on January 24 and 28, Benzema will remain in Saudi Arabia to prepare for the second part of the season.
