Karim Benzema reunited with José Mourinho, his former coach at Real Madrid, during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Al-Ittihad striker, singled out by supporters, being accompanied by several bodyguards.

Karim Benzema is currently recovering from a back injury. After missing Al-Ittihad’s last three matches, the 2022 Ballon d’Or should not be able to help his team achieve an improbable remontada against Al-Hilal on Tuesday evening in the quarter-final second leg of the Asian Champions League. The imposing leader of the Saudi championship won 2-0 in the first leg against the reigning Saudi Arabian champion.

“KB9” took advantage of its final weekend to attend the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, held in downtown Jeddah (where Al-Ittihad is based). The former Real Madrid captain thus met José Mourinho. Benzema, who is the main target of the anger of Ittihad supporters, had called on a large security service (four or five people) and was initially prevented by one of his bodyguards from making a hugs to the “Special One”.

Mourinho and his cat Benzema…

As a reminder, Mourinho managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, taking office one year after the arrival of the Lyon native at Casa Blanca. The ex-Chelsea coach then explained that, in the absence of having a dog, he went hunting with a cat, referring to his French international. The latter did not appreciate it, but he then established himself in the Madrid eleven at the expense of Gonzalo Higuain.

After being sidelined from the AS Roma bench on January 16, two and a half years after his arrival at the Giallorossi (with whom he won the Europa Conference League in 2022), José Mourinho, 61 years old , is waiting for a new challenge. His presence in Saudi Arabia is not insignificant, he could take the reins of a major Saudi Pro League club soon. In place of Marcelo Gallardo at Al-Ittihad?
