President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received counsel from civil rights activist and member of the coalition of civil society groups in Nigeria, Mr. Mohammed Sanusi, advising against succumbing to opposition pressure and internal dissent within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to dismiss the embattled Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu. Sanusi contends that yielding to such pressures would be a monumental error, emphasizing that Edu is a shining star in the administration.

As reported by Nigerian Tribune, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Sanusi highlighted that the alleged campaign against Minister Betta Edu is orchestrated by opposition leaders and certain disgruntled members within the APC. He expressed concern that these forces are uncomfortable with the remarkable progress Edu has made in just a few months under the Tinubu administration.

Sanusi asserted, “Betta Edu was the shining star of his administration.” He called attention to the negative media campaigns against Edu, characterizing them as a distraction that diverts the government’s attention from achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda. The activist noted that these campaigns force the government to be on a constant defensive mode against alleged paid blackmails.
