Nigerian teenage sensation Adeshina Ayodele is delighted at his move to French Ligue 1 side Lille from Beyond Limits Academy, the sister club of Nigeria Premier League side Remo Stars, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 18-year-old striker signed a five-year deal, sharing his excitement in a statement on the club’s website following his unveiling.

“I am very happy to join LOSC and to be part of the Lille family. For me, LOSC is one of the best clubs in France, so I am delighted to be here. I would like to thank all my coaches and teammates who have crossed my path, especially in Nigeria, and also thank LOSC,” he said via Lille’s website.

Lille successfully beat off competition from Belgian side Anderlecht and an unnamed Dutch club to secure the services of the promising forward until 2029.

Ayodele will join the club’s second team in the meantime and will follow in the footsteps of other Nigerian players who have donned Lille’s colours, including Victor Osimhen, Vincent Enyeama, and Osaze Odemwingie, by the time he graduates to make his first team.

The club announced his signing on Friday in a statement on their official website, which read, “LOSC announced the signing of the young and promising Nigerian striker, Adeshina Ayodele (18 years old) from Beyond Limits Football Academy (Nigeria). He has signed for a period of five years and will join the Pro 2 group initially.”

The 18-year-old, who is eager to get started at his new home, played a pivotal role for Beyond Limits in their 2023/24 Nigeria National League triumphant campaign as they gained promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League, capping his performance with a vital goal in the Super 8 final against Nassarawa United.

He was an integral part of the Beyond Limits team that made history by becoming the first African side to win the prestigious Viareggio Cup in Italy, where he netted five goals and provided an assist.
