Manchester United are expected to make wholesale changes across the squad this summer, with one key area being the forward department.

Currently, the goalscoring burden falls almost entirely on the shoulders of young Rasmus Hojlund, with some criticisms throughout the campaign being that his fellow attackers haven’t contributed enough in front of goal.

The 21-year-old has notched an impressive 13 goals and two assists in his maiden season in Manchester. He is predominantly flanked by Marcus Rashford on his left and Alejandro Garnacho to his right.

At times, Rashford has been called upon to deputise centrally when Hojlund has been absent, although this is also due to the fact that Anthony Martial hasn’t featured for United since last December. It was confirmed in January that he’d undergone surgery for a groin complaint and would be out of action for around 10 weeks.

It remains to be seen if the Frenchman will feature for the club again given that his contract expires in June.

Alas, a prolific striker must be sought to provide coverage in the No.9 role, and Dani Olmo is a name that’s regularly come up in United’s transfer speculation.

With seven goals and four assists to his name in 2023/2024, the 25-year-old has played a vital role in leading RP Leipzig’s line – when fit, that is.

Transfer journalist has his say on Olmo links

Olmo, according to Rodrigo Faez via MufcMPB, is indeed a ‘target’ for the Reds in the next window.

He added: “Olmo likes United, the city of Manchester and he’s in love with the Premier League. If United decide to move for him, they have BIG chances to get the deal done.”
