Big E hasn’t made a decision about his in-ring career yet, but he has at least one match that might be fun to come back for.

Sarah O’Connell spoke with Big E about his in-ring career and current health. The former WWE Champion said he feels good physically, but his decision about a potential in-ring return isn’t one that he is taking lightly.

“It’s one of those things where I want to make the right decision. I feel so good, in my day to day life, I don’t have any restrictions. I don’t feel like somenoe with a broken neck, but I broke my neck. I broke my C1 in two places, it’s also called a [Jefferson burst] fracture. It’s something you see in diving accidents when people are diving into shallow pools or surfaces with low water. They are coming down on their head and so often, it’s fatal, for so many people,” he explained.

“And I talked to a few doctors, one who did the surgery for Tyson Kidd, who had a very severe neck injury, and I also talked to the doctor that they sent me to at USF. Both doctors were like, ‘Please, don’t wrestle.’ [They were] almost begging me [not to wrestle]. So, it’s one of those things were I’m 37 now. I started wrestling when I was 23 and I think about the long list of injuries I’ve had, most of them from playing football; I tore my left ACL, I tore my right ACL, broke my right patella, tore my right patella tendon, tore my left meniscus, tore my left pec, herniated discs in my back, herniated discs in my neck, and I broke my neck in three places,” Big E noted.

“I’ve done a lot to my body over the years and it’s something that I’ve really loved. I love being in the ring and I love being an athlete, but at 37 now, I also think about what life is going to look like in ten years, what life is going to look like at 50, 60. I want to live a good life. I don’t want to be trapped in a broken vessel, so for me, it’s just making the right decision. No door has been permanently closed or permanently opened, any of those things. No decision has really or officially been made, but we’ll see, we’ll see. I’m really thankful for health, for being in such a good place and I just want to make the best decision for myself. We’ll see.”

Dream matches?

O’Connell asked Big E if there were any dream matches that he would love to have. He has been open in the past about his Goldberg fandom, but said a trios match with a reunited New Day would interest him.

“Dream matches? That’s such a hard one because there’s so much great talent now, and the roster has even changed in the two years that I’ve been out. But if not Goldberg, who would I say? I think something, probably like a six-man. I think a trios match with Kofi and Woods would be, that’s the best way to end things,” Big E said.

“They’ve been such a big part of my career. It’s a great match. Imperium is doing some great things, I think there’s a lot of buzz. GUNTHER has been on such a run and obviously [The New Day] has been locking horns with Imperium. So to be back for a match like that would be big. But honestly, any six man with the brothers, with my guys, I think would be something that would mean a lot to me. Yeah, it’d be fun. And it’s a cool contrast of styles, too. They’re so stoic and austere, and we’re anything but. Yeah, that’d be fun.”
