Billboard issued an apology to Taylor Swift. The music publication and chart company recently dubbed the 34-year-old “Blank Space” pop titan the second-biggest pop star of the 21st century. However, a video sharing the news sparked an uproar since it included a clip of Kanye West‘s “Famous” music video in it. After blowback from fans, the outlet shared a statement. The visual and its song (in which Kanye proclaims that he made Taylor famous), marked the end of the rapper’s friendship with the pop star. Despite claims from Kanye‘s then-wife Kim Kardashian that Taylor was aware of his plans, a recording of a phone call that they had revealed that she was not given all of the information. Billboard removed the video from social media and commented on the decision in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter). “We are deeply sorry to Taylor Swift and all of our readers and viewers that in a video celebrating Swift’s achievements, we included a clip that falsely depicted her.
