He was adopted at the primary election of the party held at Mela Motel, in Benin.

Akhalamhe who was the state chairman of the party, was adopted by the party members in the presence of officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In his acceptance speech, Akhalamhe thanked the party members for the confidence reposed on him.

He added that the state would witness massive development if elected.

According to him, “When a man is prepared for a mission, he is always excited when you have the support of the people.

“Today, I don’t just have the support of the people, I have the support of my party who has given me the mandate to fly the flag of the party in the September 21 election.

“I will work to see that Edo is rescued from the cobweb of stagnation and economy comatose.

“Edo will continue to experience good governance when I take over the mantle of leadership from Governor Obaseki,” he said.
