Bitget Appoints Former Binance Policy Chief Hon Ng to Strengthen Compliance and Regulatory Efforts

Bitget has hired former Binance Policy Chief Hon Ng in an effort to comply with regulatory requirements worldwide.

Hon Ng is a renowned global award-winning lawyer who was recognized by the Financial Times as one of the top 20 legal leaders in the world. In his new position at Bitget, he will be responsible for managing the company’s global regulatory compliance efforts. Ng’s duties will include working closely with regulators, securing licenses for market expansion, and developing products to enhance compliance.

Before his appointment, Hon was the General Counsel and Head of Government Affairs & Policy at Binance. He was in charge of getting licenses and making the company follow the rules better. He also worked with regulators around the world, including in the United States, to cooperate and make deals in a well-regulated way.

Prior to his foray into the crypto sector, Ng worked with Uber, and he was one of the key figures who helped develop the transportation company. He was the legal director of the company and eventually became the director of business development.

Hon Ng revealed his excitement about his new role and praised the company for being one of the leading companies in the web3 space. He noted that he will be using his experience to assist the company in navigating the regulatory hurdles of the crypto industry. He said:

Hon has overseen some high-profile cases in the past, including helping to buy a $500 million stake in X in consortium with Elon Musk and assisting governments in making new rules for digital assets. He also helped sell a 51% stake in Lion City Rentals for $465 million and was involved in Uber’s Southeast Asian business merger with Grab for $2 billion.
