Werder Bremen have their first league win of the season. After two draws against Augsburg (2-2) and Dortmund (0-0), the The Werderners won this Sunday against Mainz (1-2). German international Marvin Ducksch had broken the deadlock with a penalty at the start of the match (0-1, 8th), before the very good Jae-Sung equalized (27th, 1-1).
Despite Marco Friedl’s sending off after an hour, Werder managed to hold on to the score and even score a second goal. It was German defender Derrick Kohn who allowed his team to win 2-1 just two minutes after coming on (69th minute, 1-2). In the standings, Werder climbed to 8th place. Mainz is 15th.
