On Thursday we were fed news about the possible introduction of a blue card into football, but an announcement on when trials are to take place has been delayed due to a growing backlash against the move.
An announcement had been planned for Friday which would have seen sin-bins trialled at professional level.
This meant the International Football Association Board (IFAB) was set to publish protocols in an effort to improve participant behaviour.
The Telegraph now report that following such a negative reaction to the news, those announcement plans have been blocked.
FIFA even released a statement following yesterday’s news to stress that initial sin-bin trials would not include top-tier competitions.
There are already many reasons for fans of the professional came to have issue with officiating in the game, and right now something like this sounds like it will create more hassle than it’s worth.
Especially at a time when the Premier League can’t seem to get VAR right.
