EXCLUSIVE: Jane Wu, the Supervising Director and Producer behind Annie Award-winning Netflix series, Blue Eye Samurai, has signed with Verve for representation following the announcement that the show would be returning for a second season on Netflix. We also hear that Wu has been upped to EP.
In addition Wu will continue to direct multiple episodes of season 2 working alongside creators Michael Green and Amber Noizumi. The series follows a young female warrior, who has been made an outcast in Edo-period Japan. She cuts a bloody path toward her destiny.
The series features the voice talents of Maya Erskine, Kenneth Branagh, Randall Park and George Takei, and has been sitting at 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes since its debut in November last year.
In addition to Blue Eye Samurai, Wu has channeled her martial arts background and live-action sensibility into such features as a storyboard artist for Mulan, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, The Avengers and Shang-Chi as well as TV series Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and Interview With the Vampire.
Wu began her creative trajectory at Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design and has continued to have an active role in creative education, mentoring students at UCLA and the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena.
She continues to be managed by Tarik Heitmann at Kinetic Media and represented by attorney Rob Szymanski at Eclipse Law.
