Bologna know that Manchester United and other top clubs are likely to swarm around talented striker Joshua Zirkzee this forthcoming summer.
According to a report published by Gazzetta dello Sport (H/t Sport Witness), Bologna have set an €80 million (£68.4m) asking price to sell Zirkzee, with United deploying scouts to keep an eye on him during their win over Atalanta at the weekend.
The Dutchman, 22, has scored 11 goals for the Italian club this summer and is reportedly on the radar of a handful of clubs ahead of the transfer window. Arsenal have been credited with interest in Zirkzee in addition to United.
I don’t know about you, but I think €80m is a lot for a player with 11 goals to his name this season, though there’s a chance he will add more to his account before the end of the season.
United also need to add more attacking quality to the squad this summer. We have too many wingers that don’t meet the required standard and not enough that are game-changers.
Zirkzee moved to Bologna in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich and has quickly established himself as one of the best upcoming strikers in Europe.
Bayern have the option to re-sign Zirkzee ahead of all other suitors.
With Mathys Tel set to sign a new contract at Bayern, I highly doubt they’ve got the room for Zirkzee.
Let us know in the comments section if you think United should try to sign Zirkzee in the summer.
