Former Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, has revealed that the absence of Victor Boniface gave the team limited option to refine Nigeria’s pattern of play at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Recall that the Bayer Leverkusen star, who was expected to lead the Super Eagles attack alongside Victor Osimhen, copped an injury few days to the commencement of the tournament in the team’s training camp in Abu Dhabi and was withdrawn from the competition.
However, in a chat with AfricafootUnited, the Portuguese tactician stated Boniface would have made a big difference if he was available for the tournament.

“I will say that Boniface would have made the difference without injury,” he said in an interview in Portugal, according to AfricafootUnited.
“He was very confident and can play comfortably in our two-man attacking style. He can also play on both sides of the strikers and that would have made him our invisible arc in the tournament.
“Our options to refine our style were limited in his absence.”
The Super Eagles narrowly lost the final to host Ivory Coast 2-1.
