Vince McMahon is one of the most controversial figures in professional wrestling, but his larger-than-life personality keeps him unforgettable. There are countless stories showing just how bizarre he can be and now JBL has revealed that McMahon made Booker T apologize for a joke that Vince himself had given him.
While speaking on the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL stated that Vince McMahon made up a simple dad joke and fed it to Booker T. Booker repeated the joke, but later, someone called Vince McMahon to ask if he had heard what Booker said. Vince didn’t remember and asked what the joke was. When they explained, Vince McMahon decided Booker should apologize for it.
“Vince does so much in a day, he forgets things. He fed Booker a joke—a typical dad joke—and Booker repeated it. Then someone called Vince and said, ‘Did you hear the joke Booker told?’ Vince said, ‘No,’ but they explained what Booker said.”
Booker T ended up apologizing for a joke Vince himself had given him. When Booker T returned, Vince McMahon had no recollection of the incident and mentioned that Booker T had already apologized for the joke. Booker T was surprised and legitimately thought McMahon was ribbing him but went along with it.
“Here’s the kicker—Vince was the one who gave Booker the joke in the first place. But Vince had Booker apologize for it. So, Booker apologized for a joke Vince fed him. When Booker came back, Vince didn’t even remember the whole thing. Vince said, ‘Hey Booker, you already apologized for that joke earlier.’ Booker’s reaction was, ‘Is this a rib? This cannot be real.’”
JBL stated that Booker apologized again, said the joke might not have been the best, and Vince McMahon thanked him for fixing the issue and acted like he was forgiving Booker for something. Booker shook Vince McMahon’s hand, and everything was fine. JBL noted that Vince never realized that he was the one who came up with the joke in the first place.
“Booker apologized again, said it was a little inappropriate or whatever, and Vince thanked him, saying, ‘Thanks for taking care of that. No big deal.’ Vince acted like he forgave him for something Vince himself told him to say. Booker came back, shook Vince’s hand, and everything was fine. To this day, Vince has no idea he was the one who came up with the joke in the first place.”
Vince McMahon will continue to have bizarre stories such as this and many of his employees, including Booker T, had to deal with it instead of going against it. Regardless, McMahon has nothing to do with WWE anymore and fans feel that’s for the best
