Booker T is having fun in NXT, but he says his contract “should be” coming up pretty soon.
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T spoke on a panel at River City Wrestling Con (via Going Ringside With The Local Station). When discussing his work in NXT, he stated that his contract should be coming up soon. (H/t Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling for the transcription)
“I think it’s about having fun more than anything. Wrestling, especially the NXT brand, if you’re watching it and if you’re listening to me and we’re having fun, we’re winning, and I think right now, NXT is hot,” Booker T said. “Everybody is geared to going out and performing and performing to try to make it to that next level and if I can have any part in these guys making it to the next level, I’ma have some fun.
“Contract should be coming up here pretty soon and you know, like Sexyy Red, shake it real fast, get a little more (he laughed).”
Booker T previously appeared on the pre-show panels at WWE premium live events. WWE shuffled the commentary teams in October 2022, and he became part of the NXT broadcast duo with Vic Joseph. Previously, Booker T stated that his contract was not up until 2029. In 2022, he said his contract had several years left.
