Ever since CM Punk returned at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, he has been vocal that he wants to main event WrestleMania. Punk came close to achieving his dream at the 2024 Royal Rumble match when he came in second to Cody Rhodes. However, during that match, Punk tore his triceps and would require surgery.
On the 1/29 episode of RAW, CM Punk addressed the WWE Universe and confirmed that he would have to sit out of WrestleMania 40 due to his injury. While many fans were disappointed at the news, Booker T believes this is a unique opportunity for the entire roster.
Booker T addressed CM Punk’s injury on his Hall of Fame podcast where he stated that Punk’s injury offered an opportunity for someone else to step up and become a star at WrestleMania.
“I’m not looking for anything like that myself. Right now, just coming off the Rumble, you look at the talent pool, you got a plethora of talent right now. There’s so many guys on the roster that can step into that spot and become something and make themselves.”
“To be able to make stars, you gotta put them in a position to become stars. I just think we got an opportunity here, we got a huge opportunity, especially with Punk going down, even though Punk, that’s a great match. Either one of those guys, if Seth wins, it’s great. If Punk wins, it’s great. But Punk is already a made man, and Seth is already a made man. I’m looking to make somebody.”
Following Punk’s announcement, Seth Rollins tried to convince Cody Rhodes to challenge him for the World Heavyweight Championship. With Cody main eventing, WrestleMania, this could be the perfect opportunity for WWE to hand the ball to the American Nightmare.
