Over the past week or so, there has been a lot of speculation about whether Barcelona will be able to recover some of their most important players in time to face PSG.

The Blaugrana are scheduled to take on the French champions in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on April 10 at Parc des Princes.

Ahead of the game, Barcelona have been sweating over the fitness of key trio Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Andreas Christensen.

De Jong and Pedri have been out with an ankle and a thigh injury, respectively, for over a month now. Christensen, meanwhile, has been out with an Achilles tendon discomfort since before the international break.

Trio play training match

It was reported earlier this week that Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez will arrange a small training match to assess the fitness levels and readiness of De Jong, Pedri, and Christensen ahead of the monumental clash against PSG.

Now, SPORT reports that each of the three players took part in the training match today and the sensations are very positive four days away from the game in Paris.

This is a huge boost for Barcelona for it could mean that they have a big chance of recovering three crucial players in time to face Luis Enrique’s men.

De Jong’s involvement was almost certain as he had participated in a team training session already this week. And today, he was able to complete the training match which lasted half an hour.

As for Pedri and Christensen, given that their injury problems are muscle-related, Barça do not wish to take any risks and are easing them back in. As such, the duo played only part of the training match, but the feelings are positive.

With four more days left before the game, it remains to be seen how their conditions evolve and what role, if any, they are able to play against PSG.
