Borno State Government has commenced the second verification of over 7,000 victims affected by recent flooding in Limanti Ward, within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.

The Chairman of the  State Flood Relief Distribution Committee, Bukar Gujibawu, on Saturday, said the exercise aims to enhance a fair and transparent distribution process for flood victims.

Bukar however reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to conducting a fair and transparent verification process for the flood victims.

He said, “Today, we see the community of Limanti turning out in large numbers as early as 7: am. We will meticulously follow the process to ensure that no one is left behind.”

The Chairman urged those affected to remain patient, assuring them that no legitimate victim would be overlooked.

As part of the process, the names of those impacted by the flood were displayed at the district head’s palace for verification and feedback.

Also, our correspondent observed that a complaint desk was set up on-site to address any concerns or omissions raised by the affected households.

PUNCH Online learnt that the exercise marks the second verification effort, following the earlier assessment in Gwange 1, where Governor Babagana Zulum launched the distribution exercise.

Zulum had on Tuesday unveiled the distribution of relief items to over 5,000 victims of the flood disaster in Gwange 1 Ward.
