Borno-born Nana-Fatima Bolori has emerged as the winner of the Nigerian Army degree scholarship award following a series of selection processes.

While making the announcement on Thursday in Maiduguri, at Maimalari Cantonment, the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, North-East, Major General Waidi Shuaibu, said the scholarship, amounting to N500,000, will cover Bolori’s tuition fees, supporting her to pursue a degree in Law at the University of Maiduguri.

Shuaibu explained that the scholarship aims to strengthen civil-military relations and promote peace in the North-East through non-kinetic strategies.

In his words, “Investing in education is crucial for national security and development. To qualify, students must complete secondary school, pass JAMB, and gain university admission,” he added.

He noted that the initiative aligns with Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja’s vision to support high-performing orphans and recognise excellence in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.

Expressing joy over the scholarship, Bolori thanked the Nigerian Army for the recognition and support.

She said, “I am overwhelmed with gratitude. This scholarship is a lifeline, enabling me to pursue my dreams without financial burdens. Your investment in my future inspires me to make a positive impact in my community. I dedicate this achievement to my parents and teachers. Their guidance and support have shaped me into the person I am today,” she added.
