The Borno State Ministry of Water Resources has announced plans to temporarily ration water for two-day intervals in some areas of Maiduguri, the state capital.
A statement released on Monday by the Commissioner of the Ministry, Tijjani Goni, noted that the measure aims to enhance the continuation of routine maintenance and repairs of the broken-down water network due to the recent flood that ravaged Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and its environs.
Goni said, “The Borno State Ministry of Water Resources wishes to inform the general public that, in continuation of its routine maintenance and repairs of broken-down water facilities and networks as a result of the flood that affected Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and its environs, work is steadily progressing.”
“The engineers of the ministry are currently carrying out repairs and maintenance work on faulty facilities, and the pumping of water will be temporarily rationed for two-day intervals in some areas, pending permanent repairs and maintenance work on the water facilities.”
The commissioner expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation and understanding as the government diligently strives to fully restore water supply.
