Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have settled their divorce after eight years.
In a statement to People Magazine, Jolie’s lawyer James Simon said the pair had signed off on the settlement yesterday.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” said Simon. “She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.” Deadline has reached out to Pitt’s reps for comment.
The filing says that Jolie and Pitt give up the right to any future spousal financial support, but gives no other details, according to the Associated Press.
The move ends, or brings to the next phase, one of the longest-running and most public marital breakdowns in modern Hollywood history.
The former Hollywood power couple, who have won three Oscars between them, said in early 2017 that they would handle their divorce in a private forum. A judge in 2019 declared them divorced and single, but the splitting of assets and child custody needed to be separately settled.
Two years ago, Jolie filed a countersuit over a dispute about the sale of her half of the pair’s winery that detailed an altercation in 2016 including Pitt being physically aggressive to both Jolie and their children. The pair have six children, four of whom are now over 18.
